8 New Punctuation Marks. Yay or Nay?

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

In this age of technology with all of our e-mails, text messages, not to mention Facebook and blog posts, the messages we send out into the world can be easily misconstrued. Ever read a text from someone and wondered if they were being total a-holes or just funny and sarcastic? If only we could hear the subtle inflections of their voice or make eye contact with them we could easily tell the difference. Unfortunately, the limitations of written language can sometimes leave us stumped and wondering how to respond. That's why I was intrigued to see this idea by CollegeHumor. I know it's all tongue and cheek but maybe we really should think about expanding our punctuation marks in order to encapsulate a wider range meanings and intentions. What do you think? Stick with tradition or time for a change?
