Staying Stylish in Suburbia

Foodie Friday- hot toddy time

Friday, October 18, 2013

The most important elements to consider when concocting a top notch toddy are to make it hot (temperature wise), spicy, sweet, and alcoholic. There are probably toddy traditionalists out there that disagree but that's my take on it. With these rules in mind you can basically let your imagination go wild. I had a hankering for one of these lovely libations the other night and using ingredients already on hand from around the house I came up with the most delicious combination. Give it a try this weekend and let me know what you think. Happy sipping everyone! xoxo

Hot Toddy Heaven

6 ounces steaming hot water
2 Chai tea bags
2 Tbs Maple Syrup (Feel free to add more or less but this was the sweet spot for me)
3 ounces bourbon (two shots)
Splash of 1/2 and 1/2
Cinnamon stick to garnish

Alternate versions

You can also make this using chai concentrate from the box. Just mix it with milk like a latte, add the bourbon and leave the maple out.

Also if you are worried about drinking something caffeinated in the evening you can always buy decaf chai. It's just as delicious.
